Oh No! Not Another Food Blog!

The voices on food in the blogosphere are many - why add another voice? Well, why not? It occured to me, while mulling through countless culinary web-pages, that too many food writers have a narrow agenda rather than a comprehensive philosophy. There are those that have a philosophy - Alice Waters, Fergus Henderson, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, and Anthony Bourdain come to mind - and they are to be praised. What, though, of the bigger picture? Food and globalisation, food and the environment, food and culture, food and space, food and politics? It is my intention to weave the wonders of the post-modern world into the dominion of food, and on rare occasions, wine. Restaurants will be featured where appropriate as they are often indicative of the zeitgeist shaping the larger culinary map. So, gourmands, epicures, gluttons, and hungry folk, come gather round and let us share in one of civilisation's great communal institutions - the kitchen. Veni Vidi Victuals - I came, I saw, food!
